At each construction site, it is necessary to have a room in which you can store tools, materials, if necessary, take shelter from the weather or organize temporary accommodation for workers. This issue can be solved by erecting a temporary building, but this option cannot be called rational. After the completion of construction, such a temporary structure will have to be demolished and all the costs associated with it will be useless.
Avoiding unnecessary costs for the construction of temporary buildings allows the use of mobile block containers, which are called change houses... Their purpose and application depends on the adopted design and the availability of additional equipment. The ability to move household and storage trailers allows multiple use not only during construction, but also after its completion.
When choosing cabins, technical parameters are considered, such as:
- the purpose of the module;
- dimensions and interior layout;
- structural reliability;
- cost per square meter;
- the presence of thermal insulation;
- quality of interior decoration and other indicators.
The classification of cabins can be made according to their intended purpose, material and manufacturing technology.
- By the type of layout, they are as follows
- Video review
- Areas of use of household and utility block containers
- Classification according to the materials used and manufacturing technologies
- Characteristics of a standard change house
- Panel wooden structures
- Wooden frame cabins
- Frame metal

By the type of layout, they are as follows
Standard, or in the language of the builders, a dummy. This design does not provide for the presence of internal partitions. One large room can be used for different purposes: for living, as a warehouse, etc. It can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people.
Undershirt divided into two small parts by a corridor. This allows one unit to be used for several tasks, for example: living and warehouse, office and warehouse, living and dining area. There are many such options, which makes this design in demand among both builders and summer residents. The corridor can also be used in a variety of ways.
The video shows how this type of block container looks from the inside. Fiberboard is used as interior decoration.
With a vestibule... Here the main room of the block is separated by a small vestibule. Thanks to this design, a buffer zone is obtained between the residential area and the street, which makes this option more popular in the cold season. As a rule, these cabins have high-quality insulation and can be equipped various heating means... In the vestibule, you can organize a warehouse for things or firewood.
Areas of use of household and utility block containers
According to their purpose, mobile units are used as:
- premises for seasonal or year-round living of people;
- sanitary and hygienic boxes with the organization of a first-aid post, bath, shower or toilet;
- administrative premises;
- warehouse for storing materials and tools;
- boiler room, kitchen, food warehouse;
- summer cottages or a garden house at a summer cottage;
- security post and other facilities.
Such a classification does not determine the choice of the type of change house. A module for seasonal living can always be converted into a country house or a bathhouse, and in the warehouse you can make redevelopment, insulation and waterproofing and make a summer kitchen.
Therefore, it is very important what materials the module is made of and how its structure is arranged.
Classification according to the materials used and manufacturing technologies
According to the types of materials used, all change houses can be conditionally divided into metal and wooden. According to the applied assembly technology, block containers offered on the market are subdivided into:
- wooden panel board;
- frame wooden;
- wooden from a bar;
- frame metal;
- metal block containers;
- prefabricated from sandwich panels.
The materials used and the assembly technology largely determine the field of application of the change houses and the cost.
Characteristics of a standard change house
- Size: 6m - length; 2.4m - width; 2.5m - height.
- Standard change house weight: - 2.2 - 2.5 tons.
- Frame: metal (profile 100x50x3mm, bent corner 90x90x3 mm).
- Exterior finish: galvanized or painted corrugated board S-8.
- Insulation: mineral wool 50-100mm.
- Vapor barrier: technical film.
- Subfloor: 25mm softwood board.
- Internal finishing of walls and ceilings: fiberboard, lining, PVC panels.
- Finishing floor: Linoleum.
- Window: 800x800mm.
Panel wooden structures
The frame of the trailer is made of a wooden bar and sheathed with plywood, chipboard, fiberboard or clapboard. They can be insulated with mineral wool materials or assembled without insulation. When used for the first time, they are used as a storage room or a summer workshop. Secondary use allows use as a barn, summer kitchen, covered recreation area. The low weight of the structure allows easy reinstallation to a new location.
It should be noted the low cost of such cabins and the high level of mobility. At the same time, the quality of the cabins is the lowest with poor insulation and cheap finishes.
Wooden frame cabins
In wooden structures, the frame is assembled from a bar with a cross section of more than 50 mm. Mandatory presence of insulation in the walls, floors and roof. They can be used for seasonal living, as a warehouse and for household needs. When used again, they can serve as a guest house, to accommodate the engineering equipment of a boiler room or pumping station, and after revision of waterproofing and interior decoration as a bath.
Frame cabins are more durable, well insulated and finished with better materials. At the same time, they are about twice as expensive as wooden panel structures.
Frame made of timber
The walls of such cabins are made of a wooden bar with a thickness of at least 100 mm with inter-crown insulation. The floor and ceiling are also additionally insulated, and the wood has been specially treated to protect it from moisture and wood-flowing insects.
These are the most durable and high quality cabins made of wood. They are distinguished by high-quality natural finish and environmental friendliness of materials. This is a great option for organizing seasonal accommodation and solving many other problems, both during the initial installation and after the completion of construction. The disadvantages are the high cost and reduced mobility due to the high weight.
To assemble the supporting frame, a wooden beam is used, sheathed on the outside with profiled sheet metal. Interior decoration is carried out with wooden clapboard. The walls are insulated with at least 50 mm thick insulation.
They have a solid, durable construction with a good level of interior decoration. Suitable for living and any other purpose. After completion of construction, they can be reused.
Metal block containers
They have a strong frame made of profiled metal rolling, metal sheathing and reinforced insulation. They are distinguished by high-quality interior decoration and good waterproofing characteristics.
Due to its technical characteristics, it can be used as a building for year-round use. They have the highest cost among all designs.
