Sea containers are considered the most unified packaging in the modern water transport market. In international trade, only ISO standardized modules are used. The most optimal solution for the transportation of goods with a volume of no more than 33 cubic meters and weighing an average of 28 tons are 20 feet containers.
Varieties of containers for 20 feet
When buying models, it is important to pay attention to their main characteristics. By type, containers are:
- dry cargo;
The standard size of a dry cargo container is 6 meters long, 2.44 meters wide and 2.6 meters high. The container has the same doors - they are end doors, hinged, and have a simple locking mechanism. This approach to registration helps to protect the cargo from damage, including from the actions of vandals.
They are large-sized freezers, the temperature and humidity of the air in which are set manually. In some models, there is a special function of automatic freezing or maintaining a stable low temperature for the safety of the cargo.
The cost of such models varies depending on their size, refrigeration capacity and condition. You can buy used products cheaper, but if possible, you should still give preference to new containers, for which the manufacturer gives a guarantee of up to 12 months.
Specialized containers are needed for those carriers who work with non-standard types of cargo that require special conditions for loading and transportation. The most popular models:
- Tank - presented in the form of a tank, framed in a strong steel frame, and is used to transport liquid cargo, including flammable;
- Bulk - the module is used to transport bulk cargo;
- Flatrack - a platform equipped only with a front and rear wall, suitable for transporting equipment, cars or special equipment;
- Open Top - containers without a roof with the possibility of vertical loading of cargo, which can later be protected by an attached tarpaulin cover;
- Hard Open Top is a version of the container with a retractable roof.
By the type of loading, containers can be labeled Open Side, that is, with side doors, or Double Doors - with doors duplicated on both sides of the module.
Legal basis for the purchase of containers
When buying containers for cargo, the carrier or his representatives receive the full right to use the goods, which is supported by all the necessary accompanying documents:
- supply agreement
- acts of acceptance and transfer of goods;
- bill of lading;
- current account for payment.
Thus, the purchase at the legislative level is considered absolutely legal, which is very important for the work of legal entities. Documents help to confirm the legality of the debiting of funds from the accounts of companies, to maintain competent accounting, as well as to conduct an inventory of purchased and used equipment.
When buying containers, it is important to pay attention to international standardization norms and warranty cards, so that there are no problems with loading, delivery and subsequent unloading of goods. It is also worth considering the presence of modules servicing terminals in the region, as they may subsequently need repair or re-equipment.
It is better to buy containers from trusted manufacturers, who make it possible to get acquainted with the main characteristics of the product, check its functionality and serviceability.
